Public Computers Powering Up in Dayton

By Jeremy Thacker

Dayton, Nevada is getting ready to go online with a major new community resource!

The new Dayton Public Computer Center is ready to open next week just in time for summer use.

The center is exactly the kind of community resource that the Connect Nevada initiative is working to support. The facility offers twenty new computers and a facilitator on hand to answer user’s questions and offer technical assistance.

Many free or low cost classes are being offered at the center through the summer. A job resource fair is also being planned

The center is being supported in part by the Lyon County School District and is located at 285 Dayton Valley Road in Room 3 of the Dayton Elementary School.

Summer hours will be:

Monday 9am-Noon

Wednesday & Thursday 6-8:30pm

Saturday 10am-2pm

Questions about the new center can be directed to Kathy Griffin at Lyon School District: 775-463-6800 x387

Funding for the center was provided by BTOP U.S. Department of Commerce and Congressional Federal Improvement of Education grants.
