Nevada Broadband Maps Could Play Future Olympic Role

Nevada is exploring the idea of hosting the 2026 Winter Olympic Games and the state’s broadband maps could prove an important piece of the bidding puzzle! Nevada and California recently joined forces to create an official Lake Tahoe Winter Games Exploratory Committee for the 2026 games. The idea is to bring the international event to the Tahoe area. National Spotlight Shines on Nevada Broadband Expansion

The nation’s top broadband official is in Nevada today celebrating new high-speed Internet expansion! Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski is doing the official ribbon-cutting on projects that will bring new broadband service to more than 6,000 Nevada households that are currently unserved. The Chairman’s first Nevada stop is the town of Garderville where the FCC’s Connect America Fund (CAF) will help Frontier Communications provide high-speed Internet access to 423 households that are currently unserved.
