Nevada Stakeholders Join Forces to Create a Statewide Broadband Plan

By CNV Staff

On the heels of the 2014 Nevada Broadband Workshops, the Nevada Broadband Task Force, along with Connect Nevada, is compiling and reviewing recommendations for the pending Nevada State Broadband Action Plan.

The Nevada State Broadband Task Force met in October to provide feedback to a draft version of the plan created after the 2014 Nevada Broadband Workshops.

The purpose of the plan, which incorporates suggestions and discussion items from the workshops, is to summarize Nevada’s broadband access, adoption, and use, as well as the best next steps for addressing any deficiencies or opportunities for improving the statewide technology ecosystem.

Workshop participants, Connect Nevada, and other stakeholder developed and identified common themes that cut across many communities in Nevada and organized them into these four categories:

  • Implementation and Governance of Nevada Broadband Policy

  • Improvement of Broadband Infrastructure Access in Nevada

  • Accelerating Broadband Adoption Among Nevada Consumers and Businesses

  • Increasing Broadband Utilization in Nevada Among Key Societal Sectors

The final plan will provide specific recommendations in each of the key areas and is expected to be released in November 2014

Be sure to visit the Connect Nevada website and blog as we announce further details of the plan.
