Job Opening for WNDD Program Manager

The search is on for a leader to help a major economic development project in the state.

The Western Nevada Development District (WNDD) is looking for a new Program Manager/Developer.

WNDD is a nonprofit voluntary association of local governments serving:  Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Humboldt, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing, Storey and Washoe counties and their cities in northern and western Nevada.

Among the Program Manager’s major duties will be working with public and private sectors to develop projects requiring sources of funding for implementation, researching and writing applications for funding for District and member agencies, and administering and implementing awarded grants for WNDD and Members. Job Duties:

  • Report to WNDD Executive Director
  • Work with public and private sectors to develop economic development and community development projects requiring sources(s) of funding necessary for implementation
  • Research and write applications for funding to federal, state, local, nonprofit, and for profit funding agencies for District and member agencies.
  • Administer and implement awarded grants for WNDD and Members, as required
  • Provide research and updating of the WNDD Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)
  • Work with the WNDD Regional SET team work groups for implementation of the SET blueprint and CEDS
  • Attend County Commission and Council meetings to present on relevant topics.
  • Attend meetings, schedule as necessary, with various partner organizations
  • Compile reports of District Activities for Board.
  • Monitor legislation affecting the District and member governments at the Nevada Legislature

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business, Economics or Related Field.  Education and experience will be considered.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to research issues necessary to implement WNDD projects/activities
  • Required to use all Microsoft programs efficiently
  • Experience in web site development/maintenance
  • Good private transportation, travel is necessary

Compensation: $40,000, dependent upon qualifications
