Connect Nevada Sprouts Southern Roots

By Jeremy Thacker

Connect Nevada’s mission of spreading broadband access, adoption, and use across the state is now sprouting some firm southern roots.

State Program Manager Lindsey Niedzielski and staff Community Technology Advisor Ariel Martinez recently wrapped up a four-day tour across Lincoln, Nye, Esmeralda, and Clark counties in the southern part of the state. Some initial meetings with rural communities were also held in order to start assessing local community assets toward gaining the Connected community certification and the formation of local technology planning teams.

Meetings included talks of future public computing centers as well as digital literacy training outlets. Besides meetings, the pair also enjoyed experiencing the new river development in Caliente, the winery in Pahrump, and discussions of the new mine in Esmeralda.

For more information on how to participate in a local technology team in your area, please contact Lindsey Niedzielski at 775.343.9600 or [email protected].
